The Challenge
The piling contractor encountered substantial water ingress through a secant piled wall, which obstructed the installation of a structural waterproof tanking system by their waterproof membrane contractor. This issue required immediate attention to facilitate the ongoing construction process and prevent delays. Key concerns included:
- Disruption to Construction Timelines: The water ingress hindered progress, creating potential setbacks in the overall project schedule.
- Ensuring Installation Integrity: It was essential to address the water issue promptly to allow for the effective installation of the waterproof membrane, which was critical for the structure’s long-term performance.
The Solution
TSM developed an effective solution that included several key steps:
- Drilling: TSM created access points into the secant pile wall and the back of the wall. This step was crucial for effectively addressing the water ingress and facilitating the subsequent repair processes.
- Resin Injection: TSM conducted resin injection works to halt water ingress and fill any voids caused by the washout of fines. A structural geopolymer injection resin was used for this purpose, ensuring a robust seal that would effectively mitigate water penetration.
