Ground Stabilisation for a Domestic Client
The client had just purchased a property which was suffering from subsidence at the rear of the property. The subsidence cause at the rear elevation was due to the property being built on top of a layer of peat which was the primary cause of the subsidence. The client had exhausted all traditional methods of stabilising the property such concrete underpinning which were all deemed not viable. We developed a solution that as well as strengthening the ground below the foundation, we also put the peat into compression to further increase the ground bearing capacity of the subsoil.
The works involved driving injection lances 4 meters below the perimeter foundations and internal foundations. Once installed, the injection lances were injected with a structural polyurethane ground stabilisation geopolymer resin. During the process the injection lances were extracted at 150mm increments to guarantee continuous placement of the geopolymer.
